Neemia Charity, Cobani
Victor and Lilia Zama began the Nehemiah (Neemia) Charity in 2015, based in the village of Cobani in the northwest of Moldova. Their mission statement is "to improve the quality of life for different age groups through social, spiritual, educational and entrepreneurial activities". These activities are based in the Wings of Hope Community Centre and include: cooking and delivering hot meals to the elderly; after school clubs for children; youth groups; summer camps; parent and toddler groups; a club for older people including trips to historic places; a social laundry; distributing food parcels; and providing coal and wood for the winter to those most vulnerable. They serve over 500 beneficiaries in five villages. They also have close links with a number of local council mayor’s who reach out to Neemia on a regular basis for support.
In October 2025, Neemia Charity celebrated their 10th birthday with a number of local events the whole community were invited to. This also included the creation of a new park for children to play and others to relax with play equipment and seating.
